Backgammon Club: play backgammon online free

Ready for a game of backgammon? Roll the dice, race your checkers home and bear them off before the other side does. It is the full game, on a board that fits your screen.
Play the computer on Easy, Normal or Hard, or share one screen with a friend. You play the ivory checkers, with home at the bottom right.
Also called: play backgammon online free, backgammon against the computer, free backgammon game, backgammon for two players, backgammon
How to play
- Open the game and choose Easy, Normal, Hard or 2 Players.
- Tap Roll, or tap the board, or press R. The opening roll decides who goes first. Doubles let you play the number four times.
- Tap a checker, then tap a glowing spot to move it. You can drag, too. Use each die in turn. If you can only play one, you must play the higher.
- Land on a lone checker to hit it. It goes to the bar and must come back in before that side can do anything else. A spot with two or more checkers is blocked.
- Bring all your checkers into your home board, then bear them off. The pip counts on screen show how far each side has to go.
- Tap Done when you have finished your turn, or press Enter. Press U to undo a move from this turn. Bear off all fifteen first to win.
Tips
- Make points. Two or more checkers on a spot cannot be hit and block the other side.
- Try not to leave a lone checker where the other side can hit it.
- Check the pip counts. They tell you who is ahead in the race.
Questions
Is Backgammon free, and do I need to download anything?
Yes, it is free. Backgammon plays right in your web browser with no download, no sign-up and no ads on the site. Just open the page and start.
Can I play backgammon on my phone or tablet?
Yes. Tap a checker, then tap a glowing spot, or drag it. On a tall screen the board turns a quarter to fit. On a computer, use the mouse, or the arrow keys with Enter.
Is there a doubling cube?
No. This is backgammon without the cube. Gammons are not counted unless you turn on Count gammons in Settings, which scores a gammon as 2 and a backgammon as 3.
Can I play with a friend?
Yes. Choose 2 Players and take turns on one screen. Or play the computer on Easy, Normal or Hard.
