Looking for a quick word game? Here is a grid of letters. Link letters that touch to spell words, and find as many as you can before the clock runs out.

Pick a 4 by 4 or a 5 by 5 grid. Race the three-minute clock, or play Relaxed with no clock at all. There is also a Daily board, the same for everyone today.

How to play

  1. Open the game and pick 4 x 4 or 5 x 5, then choose 3 minutes or Relaxed. Tap Play.
  2. Make a word of three or more letters by dragging through letters that touch, across or on a diagonal. Each letter can be used once in a word. Slide back to undo a letter.
  3. You can also tap the letters one at a time and tap the last one again to submit. On a keyboard, type a word and press Enter.
  4. Longer words score more. Three and four letters are 1 point, five are 2, six are 3, seven are 5, and eight or more are 11 and up.
  5. Each level sets a points goal. Reach it for a burst and a chime, and play carries on.
  6. When time is up, or you tap Finish in Relaxed, you see every word that was on the board.

Yes, it is free. Word Grid Rush plays right in your web browser with no download, no sign-up and no ads on the site. Just open the page and start.

Can I play on my phone or tablet?

Yes. Drag your finger through the letters to spell a word, or tap them one at a time. On a computer, use the mouse, or type the word and press Enter.

How many words are on each board?

Every board is made to hold plenty. A 4 by 4 grid has at least 60 words, and a 5 by 5 grid has at least 140. The end card shows them all.

What is the Daily board?

It is a 4 by 4 board picked by the date, so everyone gets the same one today. It has its own streak and calendar.
