Want a hand of euchre without rounding up three other players? You sit at the table with Gus across from you as your partner, against Mae and Ivy. All three are computer players, and the cards are dealt as soon as the page opens.

It is partnership euchre with a 24-card deck, nine to ace. Call trump, take at least three of the five tricks, and be the first team to reach 10 points.

How to play

  1. Open the game and choose Easy, Normal or Hard.
  2. Each player gets five cards, and one card is turned up. Tap Order up to make that suit trump, or Pass. If the dealer's side orders it up, the dealer picks it up and puts one card down.
  3. If everyone passes, the second round lets you name a different suit. If all pass again, the dealer has to name one.
  4. Feeling bold? Switch on Go alone to play the hand without your partner. A lone hand can score more.
  5. Follow the suit that was led if you can. Cards you can play lift with a gold edge, and trump cards carry a gold band. The Jack of trump is the top card, then the other Jack of the same colour, then A, K, Q, 10, 9.
  6. The team that called trump needs 3 tricks or more. Taking 3 or 4 scores 1 point, all 5 scores 2, and all 5 alone scores 4. If they miss, they are euchred and the other team scores 2. First to 10 wins.

Can I play Euchre on my phone or tablet?

Yes. Tap Order up, Pass or a suit to call, and tap a card to play it. On a computer, use the mouse, or the arrow keys with Enter or Space.

Who is my partner?

Gus sits across from you and is your partner. Mae and Ivy play against you. All three are computer players.

What are the bowers?

The right bower is the Jack of the trump suit. The left bower is the other Jack of the same colour, and it counts as trump when you play it. They are the two highest cards in the hand.
