US States Map Quiz: a free 50 states quiz online

US States Map Quiz names a state, and you tap it on a map of the United States. Alaska and Hawaii sit in little boxes, so all 50 states fit on one screen.
Capitals mode names a capital, and you tap its state. Level 1 has 6 big, famous states. Then you work through the West, the Midwest, the South and the Northeast, then 20 states from coast to coast, and finally all 50. The region levels zoom in on the map.

How to play
- Open the game, pick the Quiz or Capitals mode, and pick a level. Start with level 1, Big states.
- The game names a state, or a capital in Capitals mode. Tap that state on the map.
- Tiny states like Rhode Island, Delaware and Connecticut are hard to hit. Tap near them and a close-up opens, so you can tap them big.
- A wrong tap costs one of your 3 hearts. The game tells you what you tapped, like That's Ohio, lights up the right state in gold with its name, and asks for it again 3 questions later.
- Find every state in the round to clear it. Fewer misses earn more stars, and 3 stars means none.
- On a keyboard, use the arrow keys to walk from state to state, Enter to pick, and Esc to pause.
Tips
- Learn a region at a time. The levels go West, Midwest, South and Northeast, so you meet a few states together.
- Use the neighbors. On a region level the states around it are drawn in grey, and they help you place the one you want.
- When you miss, look at the gold state and its name. It comes back soon, so you get a second try.
