Desert Runner is a running game. A friendly green lizard runs across the desert on its own, and you decide when to jump and when to duck.

Jump over cacti, duck under blue birds, hop over low purple birds and grab gold gems along the way. The run gets faster as you go. You have 3 hearts, and a bump costs one, then gives you a moment of safety. Play Levels, where you run to a flag, or an Endless run to see how far you can get.

How to play

  1. Open the game and play level 1, or pick Endless run. Win a level to open the next.
  2. Tap the screen, press the Jump pad, or press Space, Up or W to jump. Jump over cacti and over purple birds that fly low.
  3. Hold the Duck pad, Down or S to duck under blue birds. A quick tap ducks for half a second, and in the air it brings you down fast.
  4. Grab the gold gems as you run.
  5. You have 3 hearts. A bump costs one, then the lizard blinks for a moment and cannot be hurt. In Levels, reach the flag to win.
  6. The run speeds up as it goes. You get a Ready, Go moment at the start and after every pause. Esc or P pauses.

Is Desert Runner free, and do I need to download anything?

Yes, it is free. Desert Runner plays right in your web browser with no download, no sign-up and no ads on the site. Just open the page and start.

Can I play on my phone or tablet?

Yes. Tap the screen to jump, and hold the Duck pad to duck. On a computer, use Space or the arrow keys, or W and S.

Can I lose?

Yes. You have 3 hearts, and when they are gone the run ends. You can try again. A bump also gives you a short moment of safety, so one slip does not end it.

What is the difference between Levels and Endless run?

Levels are runs to a flag, 150 meters at first and 50 meters longer each level, and your progress is saved. Endless run has no flag, and it keeps your best distance.
