The 15 puzzle is a classic. Numbered tiles sit in a frame with one gap. Slide them one at a time until they run in order, with the gap ending at the bottom right.

You can also play with a picture cut into squares. There are ten levels, from a small 3 by 3 board up to 5 by 5, and every shuffle can be solved.

How to play

  1. Open the game and pick a level. The first levels are small and lightly mixed, and a win opens the next.
  2. Tap a tile next to the gap to slide it in. Tap a tile further along the same line to slide the whole line at once.
  3. You can also swipe on the board, or use the arrow keys or W, A, S and D.
  4. Put the tiles in order, with 1 at the top left and the gap at the bottom right.
  5. Tap Undo, or press U, to take back a slide. Tap Peek, or press P, to see the goal.
  6. In Settings you can switch to picture tiles, with four painted pictures, and show or hide number badges on them. Your game saves as you go, and your fewest moves for each size are kept.

Can I play on my phone or tablet?

Yes. Tap a tile or swipe on the board. On a computer, use the mouse, or the arrow keys or W, A, S and D.

Can every board be solved?

Yes. The full shuffles are set so that each one can be solved. You cannot lose, so take as long as you like.

What are the levels?

There are ten. Each size, 3 by 3, 4 by 4 and 5 by 5, starts with lightly mixed boards and ends with a full shuffle. A win opens the next level, and you can replay any of them.
