Questions
How do I work out hours worked?
Take the clock-in time from the clock-out time, then take off unpaid breaks. 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM is 8 hours 30 minutes; less a 30-minute lunch, that is 8 hours. The week's total is every day added up.
What are decimal hours?
Hours written as one number, the way payroll wants them: 37 hours 15 minutes is 37.25 hours, because 15 minutes is a quarter of an hour. The minutes are divided by 60, so 20 minutes is 0.33.
Does it handle overnight shifts?
Yes. When the out time is earlier than the in time, the shift ends the next morning: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM is 8 hours 30 minutes. If you type 5 with no AM or PM, it picks the reading that makes the shorter shift, and shows it.
What happens when the clocks change during a shift?
It counts the hours actually worked, using the week's dates and this device's time zone. In the US, 10 PM to 6 AM on the night the clocks go back (Nov 1, 2026) is 9 hours, and on the night they go forward it is 7.
Is the pay figure exact?
It is the hourly rate times the exact minutes, divided by 60, rounded to the nearest cent. It does not include overtime, taxes or deductions. It is arithmetic, not payroll or legal advice.
